What We Make

Violin

Custom-built violin.

Drawing from 35 years of experience in woodworking, we are confident that we can provide the skills necessary to successfully complete your project. Our 4000 sq. ft. shop is equipped with industrial woodworking equipment that can efficiently complete projects to the highest standards. A large, well-equipped shop does not mean every machine gets used every time. If it’s faster to hand-plane and hand-cut dovetails for a project, then we will do that.

Each project is treated with the same care and concern, whether large or small. We strive to build your project by making the best use of materials, whether the materials are supplied by the customer or whether we acquire the wood ourselves. Once the wood is obtained, the next step is to determine the moisture content of the wood to see if it’s appropriate for the project. We can dry the wood if needed, but not all wood needs the same moisture content. Restoring a 100-year old store front would require wood with a different moisture content than building a china cabinet for a house with central air conditioning and heat.

Our skills get exercised with each piece we work on, and after 35 years, the list could go on and on:

  • Repairing and restoring antiques furniture.
  • Fireplace mantles and entertainment centers.
  • Turning wood up to 16″ wide by 8′ long.
  • Staircases and house trim.
  • Cedar strip canoes.
  • Chairs, rockers, and stools.
  • Cabinets of all sorts, modified or built new.
  • Musical instruments repaired and custom instruments made.
  • Car & truck interior consoles.
  • Custom epoxy-coated tables.

Some of our more unique and special projects (with photos coming soon) include:

  • A fully featured violin and Greek lyre, entirely built and carved from raw materials.
  • Main directory for Union Station in Indianapolis, Indiana.
  • Repair of state house doors in the Capitol Building of Indianapolis, Indiana.
  • Custom cedar-strip canoes.
  • Period reproduction secretary.
